Wondering if remodeling your home before you sell is worth it? You're not the only one. This is a common question real estate agents get when someone is getting ready to put their home on the market. Here are a few home improvements that will pay off when getting your home ready to sell!
- To paint or not to paint? We get this question all the time! When talking home renovations painting can be one of the more affordable routes to take to give your home a quick face lift. Stick to neutral colors! Grey, beige or my favorite, Greige will appeal to most buyers. This will give your home that fresh "new home" look that buyers are looking for!
- Kitchen remodels are more likely to recoup their costs but they can be time consuming and expensive. If you're not interested in a complete flip consider making small improvements. Depending on the age of your kitchen, minor upgrades can go a long way. Update hardware and faucets, replace cracked tiles, clean and declutter! This will make all the difference and won't break the piggy bank! If you do decide to take on a kitchen reno try to appeal to most buyers. Do your research, see what people are drawn to and do that!
- Much like kitchens, bathrooms are common renovation projects to add value to your home. If you’re not looking for a major renovation before you put your home on the market, there are some upgrades that are cheap, easy and fast! Replace faucets, update lighting, clean grout and replace your toilet. Keep the reno to small, cost effective projects that can be done yourself!
- Yards are often over looked when thinking of ways to add value to your home. Keeping up with landscaping and general maintenance will make it that much easier to sell. Pressure wash siding and outdoor furniture; fix loose gutters and trim back over grown shrubs and trees will better your homes curb appeal. Your yard is a buyer’s first impression and trust me, buyers will judge a book by its cover!
The best advice to be given is to consult with your real estate agent if you’re not sure where to start. See if they will do a walk through and advise you on what best to spend your hard earned money on. After all, they are the experts.
