Local Outdoor Activities

Local

Spring has sprung and it’s time to go enjoy the great outdoors! If you're looking for affordable or even free family fun outings you're in luck! We are surrounded by a wide verity of options right here is our own back yard.  Whether you are looking for a hike in the woods or a float down the Swatara creek, you won’t have to go far.  There really is something for everyone!

One of my all-time favorite ways to spend a day is visiting Mount Gretna Lake. Relax on the beach, go swimming in the lake and end your day eating ice cream at the Jigger Shop! This small, quaint town nestled in the woods truly is a gem and the perfect way to spend your day!

If you're more interested in hiking then you’ll want to check out Governor Dick in Mount Gretna, PA. This park offers 15 miles of trails and an observation tower to enjoy outstanding views. Not too far from there you’ll find the Lebanon Valley Rails to Trails. A stretch of trail that goes from the southwest boarder of Lebanon county through Colebrook, Mount Gretna, Cornwall and Lebanon City.  A Great placing for hiking, biking and horseback riding!

If hiking’s not your thing, no worries, Spring Gate Vineyard in Harrisburg, PA is another great place to spend an afternoon relaxing outdoors. Take your whole family, sit on adirondack chairs, listen to live music and eat from one of the many food trucks parked on site!

Of course, there are many more great place to visit in our area so you’ll want to check out the links below!
